Polly tells us about unexpected silver linings and what she’s most looking forward post COVID-19.
Has this time made you change your perspective and priorities at all?
Work and family have definitely taken on a very new perspective during this time.
I’ve had more time at home during lockdown than I did during maternity leave for two kids! So that has been really special. Even just watching them play while I’m doing my work, or our daughter helping me make a coffee between calls, has been a truly unexpected silver lining.
I think work becomes quite intense and focused during lockdown, and it has really highlighted the importance of communication. Knowledge between teams that in the past we took for granted, now has to be communicated more pro-actively – a good habit that I would like to hang on to post lockdown. It has also made us think hard about what is really important for us a brand and for our customers in such difficult times. We want to stay really relevant during this crisis and hopefully share truly informative and heartfelt content, and inspire some positivity with uplifting product.
‘The joy of a big family meal, dressing up for a special occasion –
these are all moments that I hope will not be too far ahead in
our future.’

What are you most looking forward to when we get back to ‘normality’?
While the change of pace in lockdown with no commute and rushing about has been quite refreshing, I’m missing the creativity, energy, and buzz of the outside world! For a short time we can adjust and go about our work from our homes, but after a few months I really feel the need for new horizons; inspiration, culture, meeting new people, driving new opportunities forward….
Arriving in the office and seeing the smiling faces of our team (I admit I’ve welled up a few times on our Zoom calls), meeting customers in store, the joy of a good meal with family and friends, dressing up for a special occasion – these are all moments that I truly hope will not be too far ahead in our future.
What is your favourite piece from the collection?
I have a lot of favourites at the moment! There are so many feel good pieces in the collection that are bright and sunny – definitely good for an uplifting video call! But it has to be the abstract print Lancaster blouse, which is literally like wearing a cloud of silk, it is absolutely divine! (And selling like hot cakes so get in there fast if you want one!). Also, I love the Monte Rosa croc commuter shoes. It will be my way of celebrating the first commute! They are so perfect for striding around town and going places, so lets hope we are allowed to do that soon…
