Meet the Founder

‘I want WOMEN to LOVE their work clothes as much as any other part of their WARDROBE.’

My Story

When I started work in a highly male-dominated industry, I wanted to stand out for the right reasons, to feel confident in what I wore, but I found my workwear choices lacking. I spotted a gap in the market and ten years later we’ve set a new standard for modern, professional workwear.

Workwear has changed dramatically since I founded The Fold – and I’d like to think we’ve played a part in that! We’ve seen a more feminine, stylish take on dressing for the office and COVID has facilitated a more laid-back approach to work dress codes.

My Story

When I started work in a highly male-dominated industry, I wanted to stand out for the right reasons, to feel confident in what I wore, but I found my workwear choices lacking. I spotted a gap in the market and ten years later we’ve set a new standard for modern, professional workwear.

 

Workwear has changed dramatically since I founded The Fold – and I’d like to think we’ve played a part in that! We’ve seen a more feminine, stylish take on dressing for the office and COVID has facilitated a more laid-back approach to work dress codes.

The Fold has gone through many stages of development, but we’ve always stayed true to our core mission: to empower women to achieve their ambitions.

 

Our Fold Women Series, which documents the success, setbacks and style of remarkable women, has gone from strength to strength. We’ve interviewed over two hundred Fold Women from different sectors and backgrounds. Seeing these amazing women support our brand has been overwhelming. I’m so proud of what we’ve created and the wonderful women we dress.

Surviving as a business shouldn’t be taken for granted – we’ve been through some challenging times. So taking this moment to celebrate what we’ve created, all the amazing women we’ve dressed and look forward to the future is absolutely my proudest achievement.

In ten years, we’ve opened our first flagship store in Chelsea, expanded into international markets, grown our product offering and made great advances in sustainability, not to mention navigated a global pandemic. We are proud to have adapted and evolved during this time, and are now helping our customers to dress with confidence in a new world of hybrid working. We’ve also built a strong partnership with Smart Works during this time, raising over 30,000 GBP and donating clothes that have empowered countless women who are re-entering the workforce.

As we celebrate our tenth anniversary and look to the future, we’re excited to continue redefining workwear for today’s modern career woman.
