We thought it would be helpful for you to know how we are working through the rapidly changing trade environment, and continuing to support you as valued customers.  
 
When I set up The Fold, I wanted to build a brand that was the go-to authority in empowering, high quality, uniquely designed workwear for incredible women like yourselves. This vision has remained true since our first collection, and we have gone on to expand our product range, continually improve our quality, and broaden our reach to a growing network of women around the world. We always wanted our brand to be global – since our customers are women of the world; travelling often, cosmopolitan in outlook and with much in common despite the different countries we live and work in.  
 
Under the current proposed tariff changes, it will ultimately make it more expensive for us to send our products to you in the US. We are committed to minimising the impact on our customers without compromising on the product quality or our customer service; however, the level at which the tariffs settle will determine our future product pricing, as we also need to make sure we can remain a viable business. We are monitoring the situation continuously to determine the best route forward.
 
In the meantime, I would like to reassure you that we are committed to our customer service offering and we encourage you to keep in touch:

 

  • We work with global couriers, who are experts at handling your deliveries. While there shouldn’t be any significant disruption to your orders, please let us know if you experience any issues and our team will be on hand to find a solution.
  • We have real humans (not AI chats) for you to speak to. Our team loves getting to know you and helping with your orders, as well as offering other information about the brand and our collections. TALK TO US.

What are the tariffs being introduced and how do they affect your orders from The Fold?

 
  • When we send your orders from the UK to the US, they are subject to different tariffs and duties, depending on the value of the order and the composition of the items, as well as where the items in the order have been manufactured (their Country of Origin).
  • We have always covered the cost of these tariffs and duties so that the prices you see are fully inclusive and easy to understand.
  • We work with shipping partners to deliver these goods to you, and similarly to return any that aren’t quite right.
  • The recent changes to tariffs will ultimately make it more expensive for us to send our products to you in the US. We commit to you that we will try to do this in the most cost-effective way that we can, without compromising on the product quality, our customer service, or the time in which you receive your order. The level at which the tariffs settle will determine our product pricing, as we need to make sure we can remain a viable business.
  • It is possible, with the uncertainty and pace of change at the border, that there might be some delays with processing the orders to you. We will do everything in our power to keep this to a minimum.

I also wanted to take this opportunity to highlight some of the positives of our global supply chain:

 

  • We work with expert suppliers, handpicked from around the world, who are craftspeople in their fields. Our products are made in Europe, China, and the UK.  
  • Many of our fabrics are sourced in Italy, where family businesses with generations of craft have been honed to develop highly unique fabrics. We also source innovative, technical fabrics from Japan, where many of the technologies are patented – and not able to be replicated or sourced elsewhere. Our much loved Clever Crepe is an example!
  • Our manufacturing partners are specialised, having developed their technical abilities over decades of experience. For example, our knitwear suppliers in China have helped us develop bespoke techniques. We also source our silk products in China, where they have been growing and developing products in silk for thousands of years, and are the world leader in this field.  
  • Our factories are sustaining the craft and employment of highly talented and specialized seamstresses and tailors, who can produce to a level of quality that we know you have come to expect from The Fold.
  • In a modern world, where fast fashion is causing environmental havoc, we will continue to support our artisan suppliers, so that our beautifully crafted collections will live on in your wardrobes for years.
We are a small brand with a big heart and huge commitment to you, our customers and community.
