This week, The Fold hosted the Y.E.S Charity Fashion Show with Dress for Success London. The aim of the evening was to raise money for Dress For Success in their commitment to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and career developing tools.
Around 100 women embarked upon The Fold’s Clerkenwell Showroom for an evening filled with glamour, style and shopping! One of the main features of the evening was the Dress for Success Fashion Show, featuring The Fold´s SS13 Collection and an array of other designer items (McQueen, Marni, Jil Sander to name a few!) that were available to buy in a boutique ‘Pop-up Shop’. Women were right to arrive early to snap up a bargain as garments were literally flying of the rail! All proceeds from the shop will be put straight back into Dress for Success to enable them to continue their fantastic work.
One of the evening’s guest speakers, Juanita Ingram (Miss World International 2013), spoke about the goals of Dress for Success and the work they do both in locally and globally. We also heard from Gail Hicks, a client who worked with Dress for Success and is now confidently back in work and striving towards a new career path. Her inspiring story is echoed by thousands of other women who are helped into work by the organisation every year.
The Fold Showroom at Easton Regal was transformed on the night into a luxurious salon-style catwalk venue and The Fashion show saw a beautiful curation of evening gowns, swimwear, modern dress and of course work wear from an impressive list of notorious designers. The models flaunted each look beautifully and provided an incredible polished and professional show. A few highlights include a Herve Leger black full length gown, Oscar de la Renta cream leather dress and Matthew Williamson kaftan. The Fold also showcased their SS13 collection, featuring looks from Le Marais, the Westbourne, and the Chancery. Credit must be given to the Y.E.S London Production team who have been ardently working for the last few months to bring every success to the evening. We are pleased to announce that the event raised over £5,000!
