TRAVELLING FOR BUSINESS
ROSIE ARKELL-PALMER, FASHION EDITOR OF HARPER’S BAZAAR
TOP PACKING HACKS: To help stop your clothes from creasing, I’d recommend folding them in a thin layer of tissue paper. I also never travel without a mini steamer — they’re great for giving clothes a refresh when you arrive at your destination. I’d also suggest investing in a practical suitcase with lots of outfit sections that’ll help keep those special pieces wrinkle-free.
THE MODULAR WARDROBE: Packing for a work trip is all about creating a modular wardrobe — staple pieces that go with everything and work for multiple occasions. I love The Fold’s Ingham knitted jacket as it feels very smart buttoned up with a pair of tailored trousers but also doubles as the perfect cardigan to throw over a dress for the evening.
Similarly, the Balerno trousers are the embodiment of versatility. Style with the Roche tee and Pescara sneakers for a daytime look that’s stylish yet relaxed. Then, if you have an important conference call in the diary, create a more formal outfit by slipping on the classic navy Almeida blazer. You’ll instantly feel polished and Zoom meeting ready! Loose-fitting styles made from lightweight and breathable fabrics will keep you cool while ensuring you still feel put-together.
HYDRATING BEAUTY PRODUCTS: For long-haul flights, I always make sure I have a sheet mask to hand as they provide a burst of much-needed hydration. But I find even short flights very dehydrating, particularly for my lips, so I carry lip oil with me everywhere I go… I normally have one in every bag! Then, a spritz of my favourite Jo Malone ‘Red Roses’ makes me feel more presentable when I step off the plane.

TOP TIPS FOR PACKING: When packing items in a suitcase, I generally like to roll my clothes rather than fold to prevent them from wrinkling. It also saves space in your luggage and you don’t have to worry about lifting layers of folded items to find things. I also put my silk blouses or more delicate items in small shoe boxes or compartments with lids or zippers.
THE HOLIDAY CAPSULE: It’s important to pack a selection of separates that you can easily mix and match. Choose pieces that you can wear to see the sights during the day, then dress up for drinks and dinner come evening. A blazer, T-shirt, pumps, sneakers, jeans and high-waisted trousers are my getaway essentials. I love The Fold’s pinstripe Dovercourt jacket as it would go well with jeans or palazzo trousers — great vacation outfits that you can wear in multiple settings.
The Clever Crepe high-waisted trousers are another staple and a must-have for every holiday capsule wardrobe. They work both on and off-duty — I’d style with a silk vest and sandals for a more elevated-casual holiday look.
AIRPORT BEAUTY ESSENTIALS: I can’t get on a flight without my travel-size Elemis cleansing balm. I only use a little to remove make-up and excess oil without drying out my skin. It’ll keep your skin feeling nourished and fresh while you’re away. I also always pack a cleansing serum and sunscreen to protect my skin from sun damage.
