As any socially responsible company these days, we’ve decided to support our favorite charity. Not only did we choose an organization that shares a birthday with our company, but it also happens to help the working women of the world look and feel better. And of course, how could we resist but to pick one named after the piece we love designing most- the Dress!

This past Tuesday, The Fold teamed up with Y.E.S! London(an extension of Dress for Success) for our second collaboration- putting on a clothing drive and pop-up shop benefitting the organization. As members of our staff have a bit of event planning expertise, we know a thing or two about what it takes to make a charity fundraiser successful….

1) Location, Location, Location!

We were very fortunate to have stumbled upon Atrium Lighting’s brilliant new showroom space near Tottenham Court Road, which they very graciously allowed us to use for the event-Click this link to see the new showroom on YouTube. Not only did they donate their space, they went a step further and recommended and recruited our guest speaker for the evening- the fabulously stylish and talented Helen Berresford of ID:SR (the Interior Design Group/Sheppard Robson). Which brings us to the second ingredient of a fabulous charity event :

2) Interesting Content

When Atrium asked Helen to speak on behalf of The Fold and Y.E.S!, we were expecting a simple talk about finding comfort in your style at the workplace- what we received far exceeded our expectations. Helen prepared a visual journey of her most cherished possessions from home that influence and shape her daily work. From the look and feel of leather to the colour pink(one of her favourites), Helen stole us away and took us through her inspirations via large photographic prints. Thank you Helen, for the inspiration and encouragement to bring our personality and style into our work life! 3) The Charity Piece of Course!

Not only did we donate 10% of all proceeds from our pop-up shop sales to Dress for Success, but we also collected clothing for the Dress for Success Closet! All of our guests nibbled on delish canapes and bubbles while browsing The Fold’s Sample Sale.

A big thank you to everyone who helped make this event possible- Y.E.S! London, Atrium, and Helen Berresford! We can’t wait for Y.E.S! London to hit their fundraising goal of 10,000 GBP for Dress for Success this year!
